Category: My Journey

Needless to say that these last couple months away from updating you guys about my journey has been really busy to say the least. I don’t quite remember the timeline of when every thing happened, so I’ll have to do a summary-based entry today. Since the last time I wrote about my journey, so much has happened. So many ups and downs!!   Before And After Back in April of 2018, before my son was even conceived, my girlfriend and I went down to Seward Park in Seattle, WA to have lunch. It was a beautiful day by the water. While Read more…

“Don’t Blink” Today our son is officially 4 weeks old. We went to Target a couple days ago, at the self-checkout, the associate took a peek at our baby and told me how cute he is, then she said “don’t blink”. That advice could not have come at a more applicable time, because right now I am looking back and wondering where all that time has gone. I could remember just over 4 weeks ago when we were on-call, waiting to get induced, it seems like that was just days ago. Our son is getting so big so quickly. I feel Read more…

Blood-related This passed week, my parents finally got a chance to meet my son. I had been waiting for that moment for more about a decade. I was so happy that my parents got to meet a grandson that both of my parents are blood-related to. I have a nephew(my half-brother’s son), but this is the first grandchild that my dad has had that isn’t through marriage. Now, even though my nephew is not blood-related to my dad, he’s still my dad’s grandson and my dad has never treated him like he is less than that. And my nephew isn’t any Read more…

Patience Is Key Having our son home with us has been somewhat of an adjustment. At first, it was the sleepless nights, getting used to him, learning his personality and habits, etc, now I’m learning something new, how to be patient. I’m the type of person that feels an urge to do many things when I think about them, like: looking something up, paying a bill, ordering something, going somewhere and so on. I get very impatient and anxious when I feel like I’m putting something off for too long. Having our son here with us and making him the priority Read more…

Our son is finally here!! At 6:42 AM on June 23rd 2019(About 4 days ago), our son was born. We still need to get used to him being here with us…our sleep schedule has changed pretty drastically. Even our meal schedules have changed a bit in order to meet his needs. I, myself am still adjusting to the changes, but the joy that he brings makes it all worth it.   Making Adjustments These last 4 days have been a blur. We had an appointment with his pediatrician less than a day after he and my girlfriend were discharged from the Read more…

Today our son weighs 7.23 pounds and is about 19.9 inches tall…about the size of a pumpkin.   Is Today The Day? Today is possibly the day!! What day you may ask? The day that we go in to get induced. We are currently on-call to go in to get the birth process started. I feel calm yet on edge. We’ve been on call since 7 AM today, we will remain on-call until 9 PM tonight. The possibility of our son arriving tonight or tomorrow is sending me into a panic and excitement. On one hand, our lives will change forever. Read more…

Today, our son is 6.61 pounds and 19.6 inches tall. He is the size of a winter melon and each of his hands are the size of one side of a Rubic’s Cube.   Week 37 was the first full week of our baby at full term. This means that he is fully developed and whenever he decides to come out, he’s good to go. It’s kinda crazy knowing that we have a full sized baby still in my girlfriend’s tummy. I can imagine his movements being that of a newborn but restricted by the space that he has inside my Read more…

Today, our son weighs 6.17 pounds and is 18.9 inches tall…about the height of Romaine Lettuce.   At the moment of writing this, we are at Full Term!! This means that our baby is fully developed and if he chooses to come out now, he will be fine. Our baby can come out anytime between now(37 weeks) and 3 weeks from now(40 weeks). I am so excited!!   This week has been a pretty good week for me and my girlfriend. We got a few gifts from our friends via a couple of Facebook posts of our registry. The few gifts Read more…

Today our son weighs 5.73 pounds and is 18.7 inches tall…about the height of a papaya. Week 35 was a pretty good week. We decided to return the Snuggle Nest to get a Dock-A-Tot. The Dock-A-Tot seems to be better quality than the Snuggle Nest. The design of the Dock-A-Tot makes it a lot more comfortable for our baby than the Snuggle Nest. It’s also more pricey, but we found one at a discounted price at the local TJ Maxx. This week, we also picked up a Boon Grass set for all our baby bottle cleaning needs. These are beautifully designed! Read more…

Today, our son is 5.07(2.29 kg) pounds and is 18.1 inches tall…about the size of a pineapple.   Small Pick Ups In the beginning of Week 34, my girlfriend and I went to do a little bit more baby shopping. Since we’re winding down, waiting for his arrival…we only picked up a few things that we still need. There are a couple of big purchases but most are smaller things, like bottles, thermometer/thermostats and maybe a couple things for his mommy also. We picked up an Ubbi Steal Diaper Pail which is really cool because you’re able to use traditional garbage Read more…
