Today, our son is 4.63 pounds(2.1 kg) and 17.7 inches tall. About the size of a butternut squash.   Bedside Manner This week, we met another doctor from our clinic Northwest Women’s Healthcare. She was a nice doctor with great bedside manner. In fact, all 3 doctors that we’ve met have great bedside manner. They all have a very nice soothing tone to their voices which shows that they are very caring. My girlfriend wanted a clinic with only women and we found a great one. Everybody, including the nurses, assistants and receptionists are very patient and always seem to be Read more…

Today, our baby is 3.75 lbs(1.7 kg) and he is the size of a squash or 16.6 inches tall.   Before we begin, I wanted to mention that just a few months ago, the measurements we were getting measured from the top of his head to his bottom(crown to rump) but now we are getting full measurements. It’s a big deal to me because the time has flown by before I even had a chance to stop and think about it. And it’s so crazy to me that the measurements changed from crown to rump to a full body one before Read more…

Today, our baby is 3.31(1.5 kg) lbs and 16.1(40.8 cm) inches tall…about the height of a stalk of asparagus.   The Good Of The Rough In the last post into “My Journey” I talked about how tough the last few months have been and I wondered when it’ll get better. What I neglected to include was that it hasn’t all been bad. In the midst off all the “bad” that I spoke of, there were some good sprinkled in there. My girlfriend and I still love each other and the relationship is/was doing well, we have been in a transition period Read more…

Today our baby is 2.89 lbs.(1.31 kg) and is 15.7 inches…the size of a zucchini.   30 Weeks And Counting At the time of writing this, my girlfriend and I are in week 30(title says “week 29” because I will be talking about some of the events of this passed week). Week 30 means that our baby boy will be joining us in about 2-2.5 months. For the most part, it still seems surreal. I am going to have my first child. We’re trying hard to make sure he has everything he needs when he arrives. At times, I feel like Read more…

Today, our baby is 2.54 lbs (1.15 kg) and he is the size of an Acorn Squash. Hiccups have become a common occurrence said to allow him to strengthen his diaphragm as he gets ready to breathe oxygen. He also has settled into a nice sleep cycle that where he is able to enter the REM phase of sleep which allows him to have dreams. His weight will also triple between now and the time he is ready to come out.   11 Weeks Left A couple days ago, we hit week 29 of our journey. Yes, this means that in Read more…

Today, our baby is 2.20 lbs(.99 kg) and he is 14.8 inches tall. Ironically, he is the size of an eggplant!! Week 28, on this day, we are 7 months pregnant!!   The Test… Yesterday, my girlfriend and I went to the doctor for another visit. This time, we tested her blood glucose levels, a Gestational Diabetes test to be exact. Her iron levels were also tested. It’s kind’ve a weird process actually: She has to finish a bottle Glucola(a high sugar drink) within 5 minutes of starting the bottle, exactly 1 hour after she finishes the bottle, her blood is Read more…

Today our son is 1.93 lbs(0.88 kg). His fist is the size of a black berry. His body is the size of a papaya and he is getting smarter and stronger everyday. Another week down, another week less to go. It’s been a wonderful but stressful journey. All the struggles, all the hard times, all the good times and the sweet moments will culminate with the birth of our beautiful son. And if you ask me, it’s all worth it! Today, I put my hand on my girlfriends belly and to my pleasant surprise, I could feel our son’s body(or head). Read more…

Today, our baby is as tall as a celery stalk and he is 1.68 lbs.(.762 kg), well on his way to become the greatest athlete or scholar of all time! Week 26…children/baby consignment shops rock! Yesterday my girlfriend and I went to our first baby consignment shop, Heaven Sent Children’s Resale in Federal Way, WA. It was a surprisingly pleasant experience! Now, when we think of consignment shops, we think of used, but this one happened to have a lot of new items also. Prices were very reasonable, many outfit sets were only about $5, the shop even had a few Read more…

This week has been a very productive week in My Journey to becoming a father. Sometimes in life, a moment can seem perfect. Our baby boy is kicking and punching steadily and with a lot of strength. My girlfriend and I are doing great…I feel like I am constantly finding more things about her endearing and special. I fall in love with her almost on a daily basis. During Week 25 I’ve started doing a lot of “daddy” things. We found out that the primitive memory of our son has started developing and he’s starting to remember music and voices so Read more…
