In this nanobebe baby bottle review, we will be talking about how the bottle works and if the nanobebe bottle is the best baby bottle for breast milk.
I will also talk a little bit about the origins of the company and their mission.
We will also cover other questions like:
is the nanobebe baby bottle the best baby bottle for gas?
And…
Is it the best bottle for a breastfeeding baby?
I’ll share my experience with you.
Let’s crawl through this one together!
Who Is nanobebe?
Whether you type it out as “nano bebe” or “nanobebe”, regardless of whether you included the accents above the “e”s or not, the “n” in nanobebe is meant to be lower cased. I think it gives it a bit of intrigue…
Nanobebe was founded in 2014 by some of the founders of BornFree. BornFree was the company that introduced the first BPA-free bottle.
The mission of nanobebe is to create baby products with babies’ health in mind.
This mission has lead nanobebe to teamed up with lactation consultants, pediatricians and biomedical engineers to create the best baby bottle for breast milk by preserving the nutrients that may be lost while the breast milk is heated, cooled or in storage.
The team at nanobebe believes that they have the best baby bottle for breastfed babies by providing babies an experience that is similar to actual breastfeeding. Source
Is The nanobebe Bottle The Best Baby Bottle For Breast Milk?
I actually believe this is true…that this is the best baby bottle for breast milk.
As explained above, the team behind nanobebe’s mission is to create baby products that preserve the nutrients in breast milk.
The nanobebe baby bottle has an outer case that is shaped like a dome.
The center of bottom lid curves inward to disperse breast milk to the outer walls of the dome shaped case.
This allows for a more even and rapid heating and cooling.
The design prevents the breast milk from overheating in the exterior while reducing the amount of cold milk in the interior.
It’s a similar concept in the cooling process as the breast milk is cooled more rapidly and evenly as well.
Cooling the milk more quickly and evenly helps to reduce bacteria growth and retain nutrients for your baby.

I can personally say that the nanobebe bottle is the best baby bottle for breast milk.
I’ve had much experience hurrying to heat up breast milk at 3 in the morning while my son is fussing and crying because he is hungry.
Every second counts in this situation. If you can spare yourself of even a second of screaming, you too would agree that this is the best baby bottle for breast milk.
Is The nanobebe Bottle The Best Bottle For A Breastfeeding Baby?
Now, if the bottle is the best baby bottle for breast milk but the baby won’t take it, what good would it be?
No good at all…luckily that’s not the case here.
The first time you look at a nanobebe bottle, you may think to yourself: “hmmm, this is an odd looking bottle”.
After looking at it for a while, you’ll notice that it resembles something…this might be why they say that the nanobebe bottle comes only second to breastfeeding.
But is it the best bottle for a breastfeeding baby?
I’ve had some problem giving my breastfeeding baby this bottle. But he’s also had issues with bottles from other brands.
While nanobebe claims that their bottle is the best baby bottle for breastfed babies, I would not say that it’s one of the best.
The title of best baby bottle for breastfed babies can be split between 3 different bottles:
#1 – Comotomo Baby Bottle
This bottle comes in 5 oz and 8 oz sizes along with 2 different colors, green and pink.
The bottle has sides that are “squishy” and the nipples have a very nice soft texture as well.
There are multiple nipple “flow” sizes to help with your baby’s preferences.
My loves the Comotomo Baby Bottle because of its softness and comfort.
I would recommend this bottle for any parent who is struggle with bottle feeding.
#2 – Philips Avent Natural Baby Bottle
We got a free 4 oz version of this bottle from Amazon when we created our baby’s registry.
Our baby loved the bottle right from the beginning.
He did struggle with the flow of the nipple sometimes because the opening was/is a little wider than some stage 1 nipples.
This lead to our newborn at the time not being able to keep up with the breast milk/formula release speed of the nipple.
Since the newborn stage though, we have reintroduced our son to the Avent bottles, even purchasing a bigger size(11 oz) Avent bottle to support his growing appetite.
The bigger bottles are great for travel as they are slightly slimmer than the Comotomo bottles and the bottles themselves are made of a hard plastic, which will prevent accidental squeezing of the bottle while it’s in the diaper bag.
My son loves this bottle!!
#3 nanobebe Breastmilk Baby Bottle
As mentioned multiple times before, this bottle is the most breast-shaped bottle on the market. Even the nipple is similar.
The bottles themselves only hold about 5 oz of breast milk which is on par with what seems to be nanobebe’s target demographic’s(-2 or -3 months) milk intake amount.
The nipples have built-in airflow vents to help with bubble/air reduction in the breast milk, which theoretically would reduce the amount of gas your child may have, leading to less fussiness and colic.
This bottle also completely comes apart to make cleaning more easy and thorough.
Along with a more even heating and cooling of breast milk, this bottle is a must-have for babies at about 3 months and below.
An honorable mention is the Dr. Brown’s Wide Neck Baby Bottle
This bottle was a big help when it came to dealing with my son’s gassy stage.
I remember he would be up all night struggling to release gas.
After we got Dr. Brown’s Wide Neck Baby Bottle, we saw a reduction in the amount of gas and fussiness.
Dr. Brown’s bottle has a valve inside that is supposed to reduce the amount of bubbles that form in the breast milk or formula.
This really helped my son cope with breast milk during the earlier stages of his life where his digestive system was much more delicate.
The 4 baby bottles mentioned above are the 4 best baby bottles for breastfed babies in my opinion.
The best bottle for a breastfeeding baby, in the end, is a bottle that your baby loves most. I believe that a bottle that helps with colic prevention is also important.
All of the above mentioned bottles were the best in my experience.
Is The nanobebe Bottle The Best Baby Bottle For Newborn?
When my son was only about a week old, we made the mistake of giving him a bottle because he wasn’t latching onto the breast long enough to get enough milk and I was worried that he was starving.
I call it a mistake because instead of doing the research to see what the best baby bottle for newborn was, we gave him a random one.
After we gave him the bottle, he didn’t want to go back to the breast.
It seemed to be a case of Nipple Confusion. I talk a bit about Nipple Confusion below.
When we gave our son his first bottle, it seemed that he realized that milk could be sucked out of the bottle more easily than the breast, that he was able to get milk without doing much work. He was hooked after that.
While some experts say that parents shouldn’t give their newborn a bottle until after 2-3 months of strictly breastfeeding. Some situations(working mom, stay-at-home dad) require parents to give their newborn a bottle.
If you are having trouble getting your baby to bottle feed, check out my post here for tips on how to get your baby to take a bottle.
So what’s the best baby bottle for a newborn?
I would say that when looking for the best baby bottle for a newborn, focus on the bottle’s nipple because after giving our son his first bottle, we did research on how to get our son to breastfeed again, this is what I found out:
It is recommended that parents start with a “slow flow” bottle nipple. They mentioned level 1 or stage 1 bottle nipples(the level or stage number can be found on the upper part of the nipple).
For my son, even the “slow flow” level 1/stage 1 nipples were too fast flowing. Instead we went with preemie nipples.
The best preemie nipple that we found was for the nanobebe bottle.
Obviously, when looking for a bottle, pick one that helps with colic and is safe for your baby, one that’s BPA-free etc.
The goal is to find a bottle with a nipple that has a familiar texture and flow, in theory, this will be easier to get the newborn to alternate between breast and bottle.
So instead of looking for the best baby bottle for a newborn, we decided to look for the best bottle and best nipple combination to help with Nipple Confusion.
What Is Nipple Confusion?
In short, Nipple Confusion is when a baby refuses go to back to breastfeeding after being introduced to a bottle or becoming too familiar with a bottle.
Trouble latching, size difference and texture preference are reasons attributed to the cause of Nipple Confusion. Source
Is The nanobebe Bottle The Best Baby Bottle For Gas?
When my son was only a month old, he began having random cries for no apparent reason.
Sometimes he would wake up from a deep sleep with a loud roaring cry…it was almost as if he was startled awake.
With some research, we discovered that the cause of these cries were burps or farts(gas).
We also discovered that when babies are drinking breast milk or formula from a bottle, chances are, they are also taking in excess air. This air leads to burps.
There shouldn’t be any pain or cries associated with gas if the baby is able to release it. Problems usually only occur when gas gets trapped in the baby’s body.
Baby bottle companies have taken many steps to reduce the amount of air a baby takes in while using a bottle. Many companies have added a vent(s) on the bottle nipple to combat air intake while bottle feeding.
Excess air intake can cause gas(burps) to form.
Dr. Brown’s Wide-Neck Baby Bottles have gone as far as including an internal vent system.
Now, is the nanobebe bottle the best baby bottle for gas? Sorry to say, but based on my experience with colic and gas, nanobebe’s baby bottle didn’t help reduce gas in our child.
The best baby bottle for gas in my opinion is one of Dr. Brown’s anti-colic bottles, you can get the one we use here on Amazon.
We’ve only tried the wide bottle, but it looks like all of Dr. Brown’s bottles have the internal vent system, which I believe is the difference.
Pros And Cons Of The nanobebe Bottle
Cons
- While heating the bottle, you have to be careful to remove the storage cap and nipple cap otherwise the bottom may loosen or pop off, resulting in milk leakage.
- When feeding, the bottle itself may be pushed too very closely or even against baby’s nose due to the bottle not having a neck.
- Nipple is tilted which may to readjustment of bottle to make feeding more comfortable for baby.
- The bottle is hard to hold while bottle feeding. The bottom of the bottle bows in and creates somewhat of a handle but it can be uncomfortable to hold. The bottle can also be held by gripping the circumference of the bottle, but it requires slightly bigger hands so it may be difficult for parents with smaller hands.
Pros
- The nanobebe baby bottle can be used to safely heat up and cool down breast milk which helps to prevent bacteria growth and retain nutrients.
- The bottle comes apart completely…the bottom pops off, the body/casing separates from the nipple and the nipple separates from the ring that attaches to the body of the bottle allowing for a more thorough cleaning and drying of every corner and crevice to prevent bacteria and possibly…mold.
- The preemie nipple for the nanobebe baby bottle has an excellent flow.
- The nipples has a ventilation hole built in to limit baby’s air intake.
